b. 1981, Bucharest. Based in Barcelona.
Macovack makes esoteric, metaphysical art at monumental scale. His signature practice involves creating enormous rubbings — up to 100m² — on tracing paper laid directly on existing floors: apartment tiles in Barcelona, marble in the Amphitheater of Pompeii, stone pavements in Lisbon and Porto.
His Nebula series uses fluorescent paint that, when charged with UV light, reveals a night sky of stars across dark surfaces.
